Japanese melody 6 : “Sand Hill ”

[en] “Sand Hill”. Two different version by Shinpei Nakayama and Kosaku Yamada are well known. First of all, Hakushu Kitahara (poetry) wrote the lyric In 1922. He was inspired by the melancholic sight of Yoriihama in Niigata and asked Shinpei Nakayama to write the melody. In 1923, Kosaku Yamada wrote another melody for this lyrics.

The intro part played with bow is Kosaku Yamada version melody, and the pizzicato part is Shinpei Nakayama version. These two melodies are for the same lyric, so the number of syllables is exactly the same. However, the moods of the melodies are completely different, so I tried to spread each mood and combine them in one piece.
